Purchasing an extended car warranty can feel like a huge decision. To make this choice easier, our team has taken a closer look at Endurance, our top-rated extended warranty provider. In this comprehensive Endurance warranty review, we’ll look at the company’s warranty plans, review its service, and give our final recommendation.

Each year, our expert review team analyzes the best extended car warranty providers. We mystery shop companies to gain insights into the overall customer experience and collect warranty quotes for different vehicles, plans, and term lengths. We also survey providers’ past clients and even buy warranty plans from leading providers to evaluate the customer experience ourselves.

All of this research goes into the 1,475 hours our team has spent evaluating providers like Endurance. Learn why the company received the top spot in our list of the best warranty providers and how it stacks up to the competition.

Our Endurance Warranty Review

We rate Endurance 4.6 out of 5.0 stars and recognize the extended warranty provider for the Best Coverage in 2024. This overall review score is based on the company’s ratings in five key areas: industry standing, coverage, cost, transparency, and customer service.

How We Rated Endurance Warranty

To give you the most up-to-date information, we update our review standards several times each year. Learn how our warranty research contributed to Endurance’s review scores in the following main categories:

Industry Standing

We give Endurance 4.3 out of 5.0 stars in this category due to its customer reviews on Trustpilot (3.6 out of 5.0 stars, based on more than 7,200 reviews) and various industry awards. Endurance was recognized as one of Chicago’s 50 fastest-growing companies in 2022 and was also recognized for excellence in customer service by Business Intelligence Group.

The average industry standing rating in our review across all providers was 4.1 out of 5.0. This puts Endurance above the average of 43 providers in this category.

Coverage

We found that this is an area in which Endurance truly shines among its competitors. With six coverage levels that last up to 8 years or 200,000 miles. Endurance warranty plans include roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement, and trip interruption coverage.

It even offers mechanical breakdown insurance (MBI) to California residents, which is rare in the industry. Every Endurance extended warranty also features a free year of Endurance Elite Benefits, which we detail more below.

Due to its wide range of coverages and unique added perks, we give Endurance 4.9 out of 5.0 stars for coverage. The average rating of all the providers in our review is 4.0 stars.

Cost

We give Endurance 4.6 out of 5.0 stars for cost due to its competitive prices across the board. The average cost rating across all providers reviewed is 4.2 stars.

For this review, our team gathered quotes for three vehicle models: a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado with 50,000 miles, a 2017 Honda CR-V with 45,000 miles, and a 2013 Toyota Camry with 100,000 miles. We received quotes for several Endurance coverage levels, comparing them to the 140+ quotes we received from other leading warranty providers to see how Endurance compared. We’ll break down our findings in the cost section of this article.

Transparency

Our team uses pretty simple criteria when it comes to transparency. If a warranty provider offers a money-back guarantee (typically within 30 days) and allows you to view sample contracts on coverage plan pages, we give the company a high transparency rating.

Endurance meets these benchmarks, so we give the provider 4.8 out of 5.0 stars. The average of all the providers we’ve reviewed is 3.5 stars.

Customer Service

Thousands of customer reviews on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website and Trustpilot support our 4.3-star customer service rating out of 5.0 for Endurance. We also took the time to dive into individual reviews to see what the customer experience is like with the company, both positive and negative.

Our customer service score considers not only reviews from customers but also factors such as online chat features and app performance reviews. The company’s mobile app receives solid ratings on both the App Store and Google Play. However, Endurance doesn’t offer online chat, which can be found from several leading warranty providers.

Is An Endurance Warranty Worth It?

If you’re looking for an extended warranty that is backed by years in the industry, you should consider an Endurance auto warranty for peace of mind. The company is one of the only direct providers of extended warranties, so everything is handled directly through Endurance. For these reasons, we consider Endurance a terrific option and our top pick.

In the graphic below, you can see the main reasons why many customers choose to purchase extended warranties, including Endurance.

Endurance Warranty Quick Facts

  • Founded: 2006
  • Headquarters: Northbrook, IL
  • Coverage options: Six, including one that covers routine maintenance

Is Endurance Warranty Legit?

Yes, Endurance is a legitimate warranty company. Endurance opened its doors in 2006 and is one of the largest third-party extended warranty companies in the industry. In addition to appearing several times on the Inc. 5000 list as one of the fastest-growing U.S. companies, there are hundreds of positive Endurance reviews online.

Unlike many third-party brokers in the extended car warranty industry, Endurance offers direct-to-consumer extended warranties. This means warranty services come directly from Endurance, and the company handles all claims itself. Ultimately, having no go-between or separate underwriter allows Endurance to provide superior customer service.

Endurance Pros And Cons

Pros Endurance offers the most extensive coverage options, ranging from basic coverage to comprehensive plans with maintenance Endurance directly administers its warranty contracts, which means you don’t have to call a third-party company to file a claim EnduranceAdvantageTM plans cover maintenance services like oil changes and brake pads, which is rare for the industry
Cons Endurance Elite Benefits are only free for the first year, costing $29 per month after

Endurance Warranty Customer Reviews

Endurance is not rated by the BBB, which indicates an ongoing review of its business file. Despite this, customers on the platform give it a 3.6-star rating out of 5.0. The company also has an average rating of 3.6 out of 5.0 stars on Trustpilot from over 7,200 customer reviews.

Our team took a close look at Endurance reviews to gain a better understanding of the customer experience with the company. Positive Endurance warranty reviews frequently mention the provider’s extensive benefits program and its competitive rates, which make it a strong choice for an extended car warranty. Happy customers also focus on excellent customer service during the quotes and claims processes.

Endurance Warranty Complaints

Many negative Endurance warranty reviews mention the claims process and specific exclusions. This is a common complaint in the extended warranty industry, so we recommend reviewing your contract fully and reading the fine print before purchasing a plan.

Endurance has closed over 1,000 BBB customer complaints in the past 12 months. The company responds to 100 percent of complaints on the platform.

Endurance Warranty Coverage

Endurance offers six warranty plans ranging from basic coverage to comprehensive vehicle protection. Below is a description of Endurance’s warranty plans and their component part coverage:

Endurance Warranty Plan What It Covers
SupremeThis top-tier plan is Endurance’s exclusionary coverage. Most similar to a manufacturer’s warranty, it includes coverage for most parts. Excluded parts include the safety restraint system, glass, light bulbs/LED lights, battery, high-tech items (which you can add to coverage at an additional cost), and cosmetic portions of the vehicle.
EnduranceAdvantage™The Advantage plan covers both mechanical breakdowns and maintenance, which is uncommon for an extended car warranty. The plan has three levels of coverage – Prime, Plus, and Preferred – which all include high-level stated components. Maintenance covers upkeep such as oil changes, engine diagnostics, and brake pad replacements.
SuperiorThis high-tier comprehensive plan provides great coverage for hundreds of listed parts throughout the vehicle.
Secure PlusThis mid-level warranty provides the shortest wait time among all the coverage plans. The waiting period for coverage is only 30 days and 1,000 miles.
SecureThe Secure Plan is Endurance’s most basic auto warranty. It only covers parts of the powertrain, meaning the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. Your vehicle’s most vital and expensive parts to repair will be covered.
Select PremierThe Select Premier plan is Endurance’s warranty plan for high-mileage vehicles. The warranty has a fairly extensive inclusion list focusing on the powertrain. This plan doesn’t include the brakes and suspension.

Warranty companies offer an average of five plans according to our research, and some only offer three or four. With six levels of coverage, Endurance is above average in this area. Plus, most companies don’t offer maintenance coverage at all, making the Advantage plan a unique feature and influencing factor on our team’s award for Best Coverage.

What Does An Endurance Warranty Cover?

Here’s a closer look at the main components and systems covered in the main five plans offered by Endurance:

Endurance WarrantySelect PremierSecureSecure PlusSuperiorSupreme
Air conditioning
Brakes
Cooling system
Drive axle
Electrical components
Engine
Fuel system
Hybrid coverage
Seals and gaskets
Steering
Suspension
Transfer case
Transmission
Turbo/supercharger

Under each vehicle service contract, you can add Endurance warranty services for hybrid components, commercial use, or lift-modified components. Many companies don’t cover hybrid parts and specifically exclude aftermarket modifications like lift components. You can also add coverage for high-tech components. Endurance plans can cover over 200,000 miles on the odometer, and the EnduranceAdvantage Prime plan has no starting mileage restriction. This makes Endurance an excellent option for a used car warranty.

Endurance Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (California Residents)

While mechanical breakdown insurance (MBI) isn’t a warranty or a vehicle service contract, it acts very similarly – covering car repairs for mechanical malfunctions. Instead of buying a plan, however, you’re buying a policy. Endurance offers three levels of MBI coverage for drivers in California: Standard, Premium, and Elite Plus.

  • Standard: The most affordable, Standard coverage takes care of a wide variety of components but excludes the cooling system and fuel delivery service.
  • Premium: This comprehensive coverage takes care of most components in your car.
  • Elite Plus: This exclusionary policy covers almost everything except a small list of items in the contract.

All three plans come with trip interruption, towing reimbursement, and rental reimbursement. Because California has strict regulations around warranties, many drivers find more luck getting MBI than they do a warranty contract. Many third-party warranty companies still don’t offer MBI, however – which makes Endurance stand out for its repair coverage accessibility.

Who Accepts Endurance Warranty?

Endurance warranty plans allow car owners to choose from any repair shop certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE®). As there are nearly 1,500 ASE-certified shops across the country, it shouldn’t be difficult to find a repair facility quickly no matter where you are when your car breaks down.

Endurance Warranty Roadside Assistance (And Other Benefits)

All Endurance vehicle protection plans come with 24/7 roadside assistance, which includes:

  • Towing services
  • Mechanical first aid
  • Tire services
  • Battery jump-starts
  • Lockout services

Endurance Elite Benefits

Elite Benefits are free for all Endurance customers for the first year of warranty coverage and include:

  • Up to two tire repairs or replacements per year when damaged by road hazards
  • Key fob replacements
  • Live help through the Endurance app
  • Collision protection of up to $500 per accident
  • Total loss replacement up to $1,000

Endurance Elite Benefits cost $29 per month after your first year, which equates to roughly $350 per year.

What Does An Endurance Warranty Not Cover?

These plans exclude costs associated with routine maintenance, such as oil changes or tire rotations, and damage from wear and tear. They also exclude damage caused by pre-existing issues, acts of nature, theft, vandalism, falling objects, and lack of routine maintenance. For more details, read the fine print of your contract.

Endurance Warranty Cost

The price of an Endurance warranty depends on various factors, including the vehicle’s mileage and the plan you choose. Depending on these variables, your rates will be higher or lower.

How Much Does An Endurance Warranty Cost?

On average, an Endurance car warranty costs between $100 and $140 per month with a $100 deductible. These prices are affordable compared to many providers, especially considering the coverage options and extra benefits.

We found this range to be slightly higher for luxury vehicles when we actually purchased an Endurance contract for one of our team member’s vehicles. The Supreme plan we decided on for a 2021 BMW X5 with 26,500 miles was $184.13 per month and had an $100 deductible. Worth noting, we were also offered the Secure Plus plan at $150.48 per month with a $100 deductible but did not end up purchasing that level of coverage.

Endurance Warranty Prices

We surveyed 1,000 extended warranty customers across different companies and found that half paid between $1,615 and $3,208 for their warranties in total. However, it’s important to note that the customers surveyed each had different vehicles, with each of a different age and mileage. The Endurance plans listed below range from about $3,200 to $3,800 in total, which was average compared to other providers when our team used the same vehicle during our secret shopping process. Endurance’s monthly payment plans don’t include interest, and many consumers take advantage of 12-, 18-, or 24-month terms.

Endurance Car Warranty Quotes

When getting car warranty quotes, we reached an Endurance representative quickly, but it was a bit challenging to get multiple quotes for different coverage levels. We appreciate how the rep offered various discounts and add-ons during the call. However, our team received persistent, even incessant, follow-up calls after gathering quotes from Endurance.

Here’s a closer look at extended warranty costs our team received from Endurance.

Each plan quoted above came with a $100 deductible. With an Endurance contract, you can choose from four deductible levels: $0, $50, $100, or $500. There are plenty of discounts available, including reduced rates for state and federal government workers and members of the military. You can also save up to $300 on your plan with the Endurance same-day signup discount.

Since warranty quotes vary based on vehicle age, location, and other factors, we suggest getting free quotes from at least three providers so you can make a well-informed financial decision.

Endurance Warranty: FAQ

Below are some common frequently asked questions about Endurance extended warranties:

How much does Endurance cost per month?

The price of an Endurance warranty depends on your vehicle and level of coverage. You can expect to pay about $100 to $140 per month unless you own luxury vehicles. When our team reached out for pricing, Endurance quoted us 30 monthly payments of $114 for a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty on a Honda CR-V.

How does an Endurance warranty work?

An Endurance warranty covers your vehicle after a mechanical breakdown. Plans range from exclusionary, bumper-to-bumper coverage to basic coverage for your car’s essential components. Instead of paying for repairs in full, you pay a monthly fee and a small deductible before any covered repairs or replacements.

What is the best aftermarket car warranty?

We rate Endurance as the best aftermarket warranty company in the industry. Our expert review team ranked every major warranty provider and found Endurance to have comprehensive plans, competitive pricing, and strong customer service reviews. Our review team scored Endurance the highest, with a rating of 4.6 out of 5.0 stars.

Which is better, Endurance or CarShield?

Endurance and CarShield are two of the top warranty companies. They both provide six extended warranty plans for standard cars and affordable monthly rates. When comparing Endurance and CarShield, our team found Endurance had more positive consumer feedback, leading us to give the provider a higher overall score.

Does Endurance pay claims?

Endurance pays covered claims to the repair shop directly. It’s also a direct warranty provider, so you only deal with one company when filing a claim. Many Endurance warranty reviews from customers attest to the company paying claims according to the contract.

What is the Endurance car warranty phone number?

If you need more information while shopping for a plan, you can call 1-800-253-8203. Endurance policyholders can reach the customer service department at 1-866-432-4443 or the claims department at 1-877-414-0134.

Can you cancel an Endurance warranty?

Yes, you can cancel an Endurance warranty at any time. You’ll get a full refund if you cancel within 30 days and haven’t used the plan. You’ll get a partial refund if you cancel after 30 days. Call Endurance’s customer service line at 1-866-432-4443 to request a cancellation.

Are extended warranties worth it?

Extended warranties can be worth it if you own an older vehicle with a lot of mileage on it. Older or high-mileage vehicles are more likely to experience mechanical breakdowns. If you can pay for repairs out of pocket with ease, a warranty may not be worth it. Many warranty companies have different coverage levels that may suit your needs.
